I know. That’s why I said it’s fine as a secret in like, the second sentence. I was just saying that it’s nothing to be ashamed of, like some people seem to think they should be about their secrets. And relating my personal experiences to OP/you(I don’t know if you’re a different anon or not) instead of just saying “same”. Because it’s not always “same”, but I can still relate.

I’m not saying my reply was absolutely necessary, but most replies technically aren’t either unless it’s an answer to a question. And your reply stating something that you didn’t even have to read that far in to know I’ve already acknowledged is especially unnecessary. Saying “that’s why it’s a secret, pal” would only really make sense if I said “you sound snobby and self-superior” and left it at that. With no acknowledgement that it’s a secret or that the feelings of superiority over musical taste aren’t being spoken out loud to people. I know I have a tendency to ramble, but there’s no point in replying back to me if you can’t even read my comment. Reading and replying back isn’t mandatory if you don’t want to.

Yeah, I'm a different anon than the secret's op. I get really annoyed when people treat this space for fandom secrets as if it's a soap box on which we stand to proudly proclaim ourselves publicly. The things here are supposed to be a little shameful, a little guilty. And folks like you holding this self expression to the... idk... rigid rules of our privacy-free society is so annoying and smothering I can't stand it sometimes. And no, adding a ton of other text doesn't really help, does it? I feel like my handful of snotty words in the post you're replying too expressed myself better than this.

What do you mean? I don't get anything smothering from AYRT's comment. They simply said "Same, but as long as you don't say it outloud you're fine".
Am I too dense to get why you're so upset? Am I missing something?
What kind of reply are you expecting from these secrets? I'm genuinely curious here. No judging.

Here's the thing. I don't remember any of the post but the opening line. Idk if I read the whole thing or just saw "I would say you come off as snobby and self-superior if you said this out loud to anyone, or..." and didn't want to read 2 nore phone screens of the same, goodness knows it wouldn't be the first time I wasted minutes of my life. I also could have read it and it just made no impact because I s2g I read the reply 3x and none of it is sticking. A vague sense of "Explain why you don't understand my point" maybe?

But no, yeah, I won't ever remember and I couldn't convince anyone either way.

There’s literally no part of my reply that treated anything like rules or a soapbox. I don’t know if you’re aware, but sentences that start with “I...” are usually opinions. Opinions can maybe be soapboxing(they absolutely aren’t in this case), but they’re definitely not rules. It’s fine if you don’t want to read(or retain I guess) my post. But you’ve made more of a smarmy asshole out of yourself than anyone here by making a snap judgment based on the first sentence alone. And one clearly based on nothing, considering you’ve only put words in my mouth of what you somehow assume I’m saying. You haven’t said one thing about my comments that was right.

And maybe more words didn’t help, I already made clear that I’m aware of that being possible. But no, your short and bitchy comments didn’t express anything any better. They don’t express anything well at all. It turns out you’re just wasting my time and yours with your nonsense. If you can’t bother to read or try understand what other people are saying, then I don’t get why you feel the need to say anything at all. Other than because you’re a dick of course.
