Grievance: I handed out Christmas presents early this year and apparently I bummed a few people out because now they think they have to get me something in return (we live in a poor town hit hard by the economy so money is a concern for a lot of us). Sigh. Trying to spread some cheer backfired, I guess.

Anyway, to sooth my depression I'm thinking about maybe grabbing myself some Korean chicken from down the street and a brand of beer I've never tried before for New Year's.

It was still a lovely idea nanny.

Huh, I’ve never heard of this holiday, but it sounds interesting, nonny.

I’m really bummed put that I’m sick and I’m hoping it’s not Covid. I feel like shit, haven’t gotten any baking done (and probably shouldn’t, but baking cookies is one of my favorite holiday traditions), and I’ll probably have to miss Christmas with my family unless I miraculously recover tomorrow.

Today's grievance is against life in general and my own stupid body for picking the worst possible time to be a problem.

I broke a tooth today. It was a tooth that had a root canal already, and had a temporary crown on it. I was supposed to get measured for the actual crown Monday. Now I'm going to have to have what is left of the tooth extracted instead.

Ouch! I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it's not too painful.

Thanks. Mostly just gum pain since the tooth doesn't have any nerves left. Manageable level of pain until Monday anyway.

I'm angry with myself. I only did 14000 words for nanowrimo. I write really slowly. And I feel ugly and mean.

But I'm not mad at anybody else so that's it for my grievances, I guess.

I need to write but I keep procrastinating. This holiday break was so I could have time to write!!!!!!

My siblings all have partners and kids. I do not. I love the nephews and nieces. I do not mind picking up a lot of the holiday prep slack that my siblings can't do because of their kids/partners/stress/etc. In fact, lots of this stuff I really enjoy doing. Last minute store run? Sure, give me the list! Need cookies because you forgot you promised to make some for school? Already in a tin - take what you need. You all drank a weee bit too much on the 23rd and someone needs to do breakfast for the kids next morning? Aunty's got your back.

I VERY VERY VERY MUCH MIND as in I have a LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH YOU PEOPLE that this lately the reaction from my siblings is predominantly "eh, well, you wouldn't be able to do that if YOU KNEW WHAT TIRED WAS", or "you'd understand if you had kids," or "nice that you've got time on your hands."

Fucking just say "thank you" or nothing, you bastards. I very much know what tired is, what work is, what money is, what stress is, what childcare entails, what time management is, etc. It's BECAUSE I know this that I a) decided to live my life as a single person, and b) notice where I can help, c) have arranged for free time during the holidays, and d) can save your asses.

Parents can honestly be some of the most self-absorbed people out there. Thinking they have a monopoly on exhaustion and stress, when they definitely don’t. A lot of these parents are really shitty and dismissive of childless people in particular. Thinking they live a life of leisure and have never experienced “true” tiredness and stress. When that’s obviously not the case.

Obviously, being a parent is stressful and a lot of hard work. But that’s not an excuse to be dismissive and condescending to others, and assume you know what they’ve been through! Especially if the person they’re being inconsiderate towards has done a lot of completely optional things for them, like in your case!

I'm going to fucking make some fucking lemonade out of all these lemons. Well. I can only hope. I aim to have a Christmas holiday that isn't shitty, despite the fact that Covidiots have ruined my annual plans. I keep wanting to whine about the rest of it, but I probably brought it all on myself and I'm sure I've whined enough about it anyway.

Grievance: I work as a part time secretary for an outpatient medical facility.
The stress levels are strange. Even though I live and work in an area that is remarkably compliant with anti Covid-19 restrictions. Agh.

The upside of this is: I now have a few days off and I don’t have to cook.

Grievance- I'm working Christmas Eve and just...ughhh customers I swear. Some of them can be the worst. The hot wheels collectors keep making a mess of the section. Didn't anyone teach these barbarians manners? Ughhh fuck damn

Working retail at Christmas soured me on humanity.

For me it was retail in general.

Nothin like putting away someone's groceries while they tell you how entitled you are to want pay you can live off of.

Grievance:
Just a small one but I've invested a lot of work and good will into this year's Christmas (as every year) and in return just asked two things of my family: That my annoying uncle who's visiting us from the country's capital and stays for three weeks get himself tested before coming and that my brother doesn't bring the smelliest, most disgusting chew-thing for his damn dog so I might get at least one day without a smell-triggered migraine this week.
The first one got ignored completely, if the second will remains to be seen.

my grievance: public transport

it's been a steaming bag of shit for eternity and covid is the final nail; i'm spending christmas alone (again) because the trains to get to my family that aren't cancelled because the drivers have covid are cancelled because the drivers are on strike

until the green lobby can come up with an actual better alternative (the entire world does not want to live in city centre arcologies) i'm prioritising learning to drive in the new year
