The approach to gender politics in the WOT TV show is fascinating to me. WOT the original book series generally has a very clearly defined take on that stuff - for better or for worse (almost always well-meaning but at the end of the day it was written in the 90s by a Southern dude who was born in the 1940s) but it's generally clearly laid out. And trying to take that portrayal of gender, and shift it into a version amenable to modern-day gender politics, just seems like an impossible task in a lot of ways. It'll be interesting to see which way they go with that stuff!

The show's doing just fine.

They didn’t say it wasn’t? AYRT made no mention of the show performing poorly, or being badly handled.

They just said that the writers trying to rework some of the elements to fit more modern sensibilities seems like an uphill climb in terms of getting it completely right while still making it fit. But they also said that they’re looking forward to seeing how they manage it, so they’re not hoping it will fail or anything like that.

Ha! Unreliable rumors give me life.

Oh man, just finished it today and I have such mixed feelings about this show.
