Lol, yeah, don't use TvTropes recommendations.

At most, they're sometimes good at fanfic recs, but even then, there are some pretty bad ones that are recced (maybe not in grammar, but in character assassination or pacing).

The best way to use it is to discover things that have tropes similar to ones you like. And you miiiiiight like it. Maybe.

A fic I saw recced for my fandom was a dumbass bashing fic where the totally cool self insert hero argues with a flanderized version of a controversial canon main character and tells her why she's the worst .

Another one is a poem with rhyming scheme but it's just a bunch of 2000s era "female OCs bad" bullshit.

Yup, if you use tvtropes recommendations then you'll just get stuff that random people say they liked for all sorts of different reasons. Who wants that sort of recommendation?
