The creator is doing it because of YouTube algorithm censorship bullshittery. An interesting conversation could be had about how this negatively effects creators and the people who DO need to filter out certain content and helps literally no one but is enforced upon the user base. I really hate this shit but it's usually not because the creator has so little faith in their audience.

Most any of censoring words this way is doing so to avoid showing up in searches for certain keywords and to avoid getting hit by a bot/demonitized/whatever. It's not because they think viewers who are looking up true crime can't handle the word "kill".
