Is this reversed as well? I mean does Watson also address Holmes formally in these adaptations? Because he never uses Holmes' given name in dialogue in the original stories either. (I actually think Holmes did once use 'John', during the Devil's Foot case, but I'd have to check it). It was pointed out to me that Holmes and Watson are a slightly grey area in terms of Victorian formality, in that they use each other's last names, but they don't tag a 'Mr.' in front of it, so they are actually slightly informal by Victorian standards.

Pretty sure he does as well, yes. Which makes sense considering how much he respects Holmes (usually).
