Well, you're here on Dreamwidth, which is a...curated fan space, and there is still Livejournal, which is same.... And AO3, even if it's not as chatty as LJ and DW.....

My friends feeds on both are pretty lively, OP. Maybe you need to find some communities you like?

Not all fandoms have a community on DW/LJ, though. The fandoms that were already around in LJ's heyday may be alive and well, but newer fandoms with an on average younger fan base do not have as much of a presence unless they're huge enough to be everywhere.
