(Anonymous) 2022-01-11 02:31 am (UTC)(link)As a self/oc shipper, I'm all about the fun and the I wish he was real etc etc, and wouldn't this be a fun scenario. But I think there's a line. As someone who (in my teenage years) was definitely attached to a particular fictional character (much like you're describing) there could be any number of reasons why -- I often wonder if I just didn't have a person or place where I could project all my feelings of desire and desire to be desired. Some folks get this/develop these "relationships" out of loneliness, to escape a bad situation, a boring situation, to help them work through things, coping, anything, it could be anything. So I try not to look upon that so harshly. That they should seek help or real relationships I think tends to be a good thing. IME it was leaving my comfort zone and interacting with others that helped break that situation. All that said, if they're in their own little space of fandom ...eh.
I also wouldn't go that far posting it, because I knew it would sound crazy and I'm rather private. So... I hope that person you're talking about is okay.
