(Anonymous) 2022-01-11 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)Second, I think that the Rock really did come into an existing successful franchise and try to take it over and make it his thing, and I think the franchise is something that Vin justifiably considers his baby, and a deeply personal thing. Does Vin take the series too seriously, yes, absolutely, but that's also part and parcel of the whole vibe of the franchise and one of the reasons for its success. So I think that the Rock was in the wrong originally. I think it is basically magnanimous for Vin to try to squash the beef and heal the wounds, even if he maybe didn't pick the best way of doing it.
Third, I think a lot of people are being absolutely ridiculous about this. Saying that Vin Diesel is (in effect) an abusive father because of this is just absolutely ridiculous. That's over-the-top. So I'm opposed to that kind of ridiculous sentiment.
