Re: fanfic research question

But for Pete's sake, I just got it from Google, the same as the people who helped you the day before. I don't mind looking stuff up - it's interesting - but I don't really understand your mindset.

I do google, but I also ask around in case anyone has personal experience too. Google can be inconsistent and contradictory, so asking around in case anyone has direct experience is always worth a shot too. I do not understand why this upsets you so much?

Not upset! Just befuddled

Then you didn’t have to answer their thanks, especially because they already explained why they chose to ask instead of Google in response to your question yesterday. You say you’re not upset, but you’re coming off as just as rude with your “befuddlement” as if you were upset.

*coughs* DA, but I was the one that asked re why the Google yesterday. I have nothing to do with this current thread aside from this comment. I was just genuinely curious last night? I think it's sweet they thanked the nonny that helped them.

Then I take back that part. Sorry, my bad!

No they're really not.

They are. How is it not at least a bit rude to respond to someone thanking people for helping them out with “I just got the info to help you out from Google, which you should have done, and I don’t get why you don’t”. OP said they don’t get why it upsets them, so it’s indicated that they feel like anon is being rude and weirdly dismissive as well. It was just a thank you, it didn’t require this response, whether you personally think it comes off as rude or not.

(Not to put words in OP’s mouth, though, which is why I said it’s “indicated” that they may feel this way. I could be wrong about how they may feel, of course.)

which you should have done, and I don’t get why you don’t

This was absolutely not my point at all. What was confusing is trying to understand how it was helpful. Yesterday, they said they didn't like to google because they thought the results were untrustworthy, so I figured that my comment hadn't been helpful because it was based on Google, and then I was confused today because it apparently was helpful. I'm sorry if it came across as rude.

Okay, I do get the disconnect between not wanting to take Google as the only source, but seeking help from people that were most likely using Google. I don’t think you were aiming to be rude, it just came across a little bit rude in the way you didn’t really acknowledge the words of thanks in favor of asking your question. It’s is a completely fair question to ask, though, and I’m sorry I got the intent of it so wrong.

Because I have no way of knowing whether there were a couple of Mississippi residents on FS or not. It is worth asking, because there might have been one or two posters with direct experience. I don't know where everyone lives or not.

Having said all that, I wish I'd never asked now. I think I'll shelve this fic for the time being. It isn't fun anymore.

I’m not saying your question wasn’t worth asking either, as you never know what kind of locals you can find around here(or anywhere on the internet). I was just saying I got where the other anon was coming from now.

I’m sorry this has soured the fic for you, legitimately! :(
