people think, or maybe like to imagine, that dudes are a lot more competitive and power hungry than they actually are. same with girls and being power hungry and catty. female writers tend to exaggerate the former, and male writers tend to exaggerate the latter.

it's more fictional sparks and drama that way. joe and jane the cool laid back stoners that don't give a shit generally don't make for plotful drama.

I'm gonna have to watch this movie at some point. I don't wanna, but it has insinuated so many discussion spaces that if I want to keep up with discussions and references to it on so many other topics I'm just gonna have to. I'm going to watch it for the first time tonight, but I was surprised to read Stephanie Beatriz voices the character pictured. I know Beatriz didn't use her natural voice on B99, but she's still not really who I mentally heard when I saw that character.

In my immediate social circle, I am lucky to have a group of girl friends who are all low drama and zero bitchiness. The more women I meet outside of my group though... My friends seem to be like freaking unicorns. Maybe it's just because the people who are like that are the loudest.

At Uni I regularly witnessed the power jockeying going on in mostly male geek groups. God, men can be snide to each other. And the put downs! Yeesh. But again, maybe I just knew people who happened to be like that.

Amen. I am married with kids, but that was my choice. I freaking hate any suggestion that it's somehow a natural state for all women. Spinster is way better than trapped as a domestic slave in an abusive marriage.
