That's what I wonder because it's hard to believe her only options were 1) marry George or 2) be a sad spinster. She was always going to look like Donna Reed and its not like George shaped her whole personality (or was responsible for making her look glamorous and having better eyesight). Realistically, she could have married any decent guy and been fine.
