Re: What has been your favorite Fandom drama?

Yeah, I don't know if it's just because it happened recently but that's my pick too. Tumblr was so fucking funny the night/weekend after the confession.

Oh absolutely. And the memes: absolute top-notch content. "There are two wolves inside of you... one of them is gay, one of them is homophobic. You are the CW show Supernatural." Stunning & brave.

I don't think gay people having internalized homophobia is enough a thing of the past yet for jokes applying it to a TV show to be considered funny. (Unless you're being sarcastic and that was your point; I sincerely cannot tell thanks to your "stunning and brave" comment.)

…this is in no way about internalized homophobia. I’m extremely gay lol. This is about the SPN confession being seen as both gay and homophobic since Castiel was immediately sent to “superhell.” Clowning on the show runners. Not on gay people. But go off, I guess.

Not the anon you replied to, but I hated the whole "superhell" discourse.

Dude was going to sleep in the Empty where he would have gone in the first place, because that's where all the angels go if/when they croak.

I just...I didn't like the finale two eps later, but the confession episode was written by a gay person and was largely about coming out and speaking your truth being important to your happiness, so fandom's reaction annoyed me.

Yeah, I don't watch Supernatural, but finding out that "Castiel went to hell after confessing" really upset me... and finding out later that that's not actually what happened, that fans had been lying to make it sound like homophobic storytelling, upset me too. I'm glad it's not actually what happened on the show. I wish I had been saved the initial upset by never being made to believe it did just because some fans were salty.

"There are two wolves inside you. One is gay and the other is homophobic" is literally a memetic description of a person with internalized homophobia. Adding "You are the TV show Supernatural" onto it for a joke shows an astonishing lack of awareness of that fact, as do you if you think no sentence in that post has anything to do with internalized homophobia.

It’s actually a common quote that usually ends with “which one wins? The one you feed.” The quote subversion is part of the joke. But stay getting pissed off at things not directed at you for absolutely no reason if that’s what makes you happy. Or sad, as the case may be.
