I'm sure there might be an element of what you say somewhere, but mostly I see it as people infantilising them in general - especially Loki, in the first film. "This is why they're both acting irrationally because they're teenagers!" I also think there might be an element of younger fans wanting to ship with an OC self-insert in a way that feels relatable if the canon character is also a very young adult. It ignores the whole Mayfly-December romance issue.
I hate it because long-lived aliens would not age strictly in the same way we do. They're obviously young in terms of their species but c'mon, if you had over 1000 years of life experience are you seriously telling me you'd behave the exact same way as 17 year old you?! I know the MCU isn't consistent with many things but there's enough there in canon to suggest they know more that the walls of the palace in Asgard.
