Yes yes yes to both of these. Some people might end up looking foolish, but you know, I have met fandom-adjacent people, even, who bought Cassandra Clare's books and had no idea why I started stifling laughter when they were mentioned. Fandom was good at keeping the wank to itself, now everything at the very least has the potential to go viral.
