I have no idea what you're talking about. I just think you're slightly overexaggerating how much bullying there is now, and I think you're understating it to say that when there was bullying back in the day people would immediately abandon the communities in question.

They might not abandon the community immediately, but they would abandon it within a few months or so. And I've been in fandom a long time; there is way more bullying now, and it is far more acceptable than it ever has been in the twenty-five years I've been online.
