101) That's a really tough situation. On the one hand, she's a friend, on the other she probably doesn't realize how her negativity is bringing you down and she really aught to be told even if it hurts her feelings. I'm guilty about snarking about fics myself, but to my credit I try to keep those things to communities or groups who are comfortable with them. I use my journal to discuss more general problems with fics rather than showcasing how a specific fic gets it wrong. Maybe if your friend did that you'd feel a bit more free to experiment with fandom.

115) Most of the people in these communities aren't flaming fucktards. I can understand not wanting to open yourself up to the possibility of negative reviews, but you may just discover that people actually appreciate the work you do, and that's a pretty awesome feeling. Being shy really sucks a lot of the fun out of life.

129) Oh God NOOOOO! It's hilarious as a parody, but done seriously? Or extended out more than it already is? It would stop being a joke, and start being what it's making fun of.

133) Oh for heavens sake. How do you expect people to take you seriously when you are so childishly melodramatic over such a stupid thing.

139) Don't beat yourself over it. You know your limits, and thankfully, we aren't all required to enjoy the same things.

141) I'm currently RPing Fuhrer Bradley from FMA on there, so LOL yeah, people do that.

148) The point is that you are very important to other people, even if you don't realize it. You impact other people, and when you are gone there will never be anything that will fill that void. It will remain a hole until they day they too die. If you can't find a reason to live for yourself (yet) live for them.

I would tell her, but I'm guilty of joining in. Enthusiastically. *shame* Massive hypocrite, yes. And I know it's silly, but whenever I start writing something now all I can think is, "What if she makes a filtered post about this for people to LOL at?" I don't think she would, and I'm sure it's WAY PARANOID of me, but I can't help it. Either way, I'm not going to participate anymore in the bashing, and I might just write that fic.

On the other hand, if she is your friend, then why would she stoop so low as to make fun of you? Why don't you talk to her about it or ask HER to beta your writing?

I'll admit I complain about badfic in the privacy of my friends-locked LJ but I would never go around a friend's back to make fun of them.

Ah, yes. This whole thing has given me a lot to think about.

139 (OP). Yeah, but it's supposed to be the most awesome comic since Action Comics #1 and totally meaningful and stuff. And awesome.

It is good. But there are lots of good things out there.

You may find the graphic novel easier. The drawings aren't as graphic, but all the meaning is still there.
