She has pretty much been doing nothing for more than half the series

I think that's the problem most everyone has with her. It really seems like she's just a filler serving no significant purpose except to "Setsuna" her way through the episodes.

But ohh, shame on me for criticizing a character for having for not have a more purposeful role. It must be that I hate all female characters. :

A lot of the time, I just feel she is there is because this is a Gundam series and it needs it "peace princess", and that is fine, but she needed to be more of service.

I am in general more in tuned with female characters then I am male, and as a personality, I don't hate her, nor do I bash her. I just feel that the writers flattened her out and took away most of her more interesting attributes. She was great in the season during the attack on her country, but after that, she kind of lost reason to be around.

I am kind of annoyed how they have kind of begun to push a Setsuna/Marina connection, because she always came across as a mother figure to him and now they are suddenly trying to push a romantic line on it and it just feels really really forced.

That said, i am not surprised by any of it, because my opinion of 00 is in general pretty low, but whatever.

Oh yea, definitely have to agree with you there too. It just makes me cringe that they're forcing it down without real meaningful development between the two (and unfortunately some fans are actually buying into it as if they're the new HeeroxRelena). Makes me laugh.

I don't begrudge people who ship it, but as for canon it kind of bugs me, because it doesn't fit, but we have begun to have people in the show tell us about it, and that annoys me too. I was glad Setsuna denied it last episode but it bothers me it was brought up at all. And this shows track record in how it deals with romance doesn't leave me too hopeful.

I always thought that the show bringing up a possible romance with them was just the other characters in the show misunderstanding their relationship (Mileina, Feldt, Tieria, them wacky kids) more than anything. I also saw it as motherly and to be honest, I can't see anything romantic happening within the next 2 episodes. But who knows?

Even though, yes, she has lost some of her better attributes this season, she definitely does not deserve all of the bashing that she gets from the fandom.

And I never said that ALL of her critics hated all female characters; the more vehement ones, though, seem to think that having a vagina on this show means you are a worthless piece of shit and deserve to die.
