Bono has struggled with faith in God for most of his life, so perhaps if you really really listen to what it is he's singing (especially if you listen to their old CD "October", in which every single song is about God in some way) and also read anything that he's written, you will feel better.

I totally know where you are coming from. I lost faith and I was contemplating killing myself. Once I regained my faith, I began to value my life again. I suggest, as well as hearing what Bono has to say on the subject, you do some research into near-death experiences and talk to a minister or someone who can restore your faith in God.

First, I'd like to point out that I know about Bono's struggles. The background in the secret actually has some notable lyrics. . .

It's always great to hear from someone who's been in the same "boat," so I appreciate your comment. I'll try to take your suggestions and see if I believe again. Thank you.

Have you read anything of what he's written? I can only really give a secondhand recommendation since my sister, the biggest U2 nut on the planet (seriously, the girl cries whenever she goes to a concert and they play "Where The Streets Have No Name"), screeches at me when I touch her books about/by them, but from what she tells me he and I could talk for days about God (I am a theophile, always have been; even when I lost my faith all I could think about was God, God, and God). So maybe something written down in plain prose instead of lyrics might help even more ^_^

This site (www.near-death.com) helped the most. I suggest starting with Pam Reynolds, then George (Yuri) Rodonaia, and then the experiences of atheists; those are most damning arguments out of all of them, I think.
