Your secret just screams "I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS PERSON" and its kinda creepy. No one is going to measure up to this online person because you obviously aren't going to let them or give them a chance. Dunno why you're even bothering TO date. It's not fair to the other person. Get over your obsessive unrequited love before you put yourself out there in RL. Nobody wants to end up being second best simply because they don't measure up to this other, better person in your head. Honestly, delusional people like you make me sick.

Hence why it's a secret, and not something I scream about for all the world to hear.

I know it's unfair, and that's why I don't date. I'm picky to the point of not taking anything to the next level, because I know it would be unfair to a partner. I'm not stupid. I KNOW it's creepy. I'm trying to get over it. There's a reason why I posted it as a SECRET and didn't just tell everyone I know, and/or post it on my journal in big caps.

Sooo sorry if I made you feel that you were about to lose your lunch. Get over yourself. I can't take this seriously, especially since you didn't have the courage to say it with a name attached.

I went anon because I don't want my name attached to my post, duh. It didn't make me feel like I was about to lose my lunch, it made me sick as in disgusted that you would even date people when your mind is stuck on this other person. You shouldn't even bother taking anything beyond friendship with anyone until you can stop comparing and have gotten over your feelings for them.

I know this is why it's a secret and that getting over someone you are obsessed with is a lot easier said than done, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be soft and tell you this is all ok and that I understand.

I'm not asking for that. But really, all you're doing is annoying me. You're telling me things I already know, and insulting me. Might as well not comment. I'm not saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!!!!1!1!11" But really? Since what you're telling me is obvious? Why bother?

Sometimes, it's tough to get over a person. For example, I spent the last seven years getting over someone who I loved on first sight but who jut thought of me as a friend. If it is that easy for you, it's not love, simply a puppy crush. While it is true that the OP does need to get over the person, telling them "dunno why you're even bothering to date" or "delusional people like you make me sick" is really not going to help the OP, nor the situation, nor even anything but your venomously, barbed, little tongue get out some very undeserved venom.

OP, is this person a person you have regular contact with? If so, have you asked the person and has the person said no? Or perhaps you could try getting to know the person. If not, perhaps you could try to put the person behind you and search for others in the real world. I mean, I'm sure someone exists somewhere like this person.

Also, I know getting over someone isn't easy but 7 years is a bit much. I LOL @ you for thinking what you have (had?) is LOVE. No, dear anon, what you have is what sane people recognize as obsession (on first sight), and that is not love. It's funny, all the people I have known who were obsessed with someone? It creeped that someone the FUCK out, and their so-called "love" was always unrequieted because the person in question just wanted to be friends. It's happened to me as well and I thought that guy was super annoying and creepy. I had to flat out tell him look, stop calling me all the time, I do not like you that way, we can be friends but that's it.

I don't think if the OP told this person their feelings that anything would change. Well, perhaps the only thing that would change is being alienated from said person, possibly for good. That is, if this is actually a fandom friend. If it's a celebrity then nevermind because you don't have a chance in hell.

Also I can't believe you would tell them that you're "sure someone exists somewhere like this person." Yeah? How fair is that to this potential other person? OP is only with them because they embody everything they liked about their old obsession? You are obviously not a very good source of advice.
