I really liked the show, but the third season was a mess. There were apparently disputes among NBC, cast, and producers all the way through, but it got worse as time went on and the show went in different directions. By the third season, executive meddling, cast changes (some were so unhappy they wanted leave, some were let go because their characters were unpopular, the producers wanted a younger cast or smaller one, or whatever), and production changes had really changed the landscape and the tone. I believe Michael Ironside had a lot of input on it because they wanted him to sign on so much.
