Solar panels break easily and batteries eventually wear out and need replaced. People with limited resources wouldn't be able to rely on solar power long term if they're really roughing it on their own. It would be feasible shortly after an apocalypse or whatever but otherwise noooooope.

People would have to just go back to doing most things manually.

To be honest my problem with a lot of post-apoc where it's been a while is that...we already have models for how society works without relying on technology. It's called the past. And it wasn't all that bad. A lot of harder labor than most are used to but not the scavenging for beans in cans without having bathed in forever type most people think. Humans are adaptable and inventive. We've built amazing civilizations without tech before and if we had to we'd do it again.

Same anon as above but can't edit so: there is also the fact there are places NOW TODAY where people live if not entirely without tech than mostly independent of it. Some by choice, some not. Most of them perfectly happy. There is no shortage of places to draw inspiration and knowledge.

Problem is, in the process of building industrial civilization the first time, we used up most of the easily accessible resources.
