I also think sometimes the writers has also gotten tired of the slow burn, and so the writing for the temps comes across fresh and new, because the writers are having more of a fun time.

If a whole show is centered around the slow burn (like say the Nanny), then I genuinely get why you wouldn't want to remove the main conflict of the show. But that doesn't make it less annoying.
