I feel like this is yet again a way in which this era manages to please no one. I'm generally against Doctor-Companion relationships (or pining) and I didn't see the explicitly romantic build-up that shippers did. So people like me aren't pleased that this has become a plot point at all. And shippers like OP are almost definitely going to be left unsatisfied by how it plays out.

I think it's actually a symptom of the larger "too little too late" issue in characterizing Yaz. And exploring the Doctor's bottled-up emotions.
