I'll never get over my love for the asshole with a heart of gold trope. I think people conflate that the "asshole" necessarily having to be some sort of bully type and therefore dislike it. But, for example, the grumpy guy with trust issues in accounting isn't abusive just because he has a sarcastic answer for everything.

I relate heavily to having a serious cold shoulder or an attitude as a defense mechanism so I love seeing it in characters.
