Doesn't it depend on which direction you're facing? Like the sun, the moon moves from east to west. If you're looking north, the moon will seem to move right to left. If you're looking south, the opposite.

Of course, we can't tell the POV on film, so I just give the benefit of the doubt; somewhere, somehow, the "whatever" can be made to work.
