Being outside of a group can make fiction which centers on that group actually more enjoyable. Any media with horses in it aside from very basic "it's the middle ages and people use carts" type stuff makes me wanna throw my head through the wall. Especially in writing because they can't avoid referring to certain things the characters are doing but do it all wrong. And it seems to be something no one ever thinks they need to research even if they look into everything else. A problem shows/movies don't have since it's all visual.

No, you can't in any context refer to stirrups as pedals. Please stop making characters ride double for long distances (sometimes at speed!)
