...huh? In the audiobooks and films they say it with a soft G. A hard G in that position would sound really weird. (Remember it's short for Ginevra, although I think before that was revealed a popular fan theory was Virginia.)

That said, I pronounced Hermione "HER-me-own" until I actually heard it out loud in the film. I had no idea as I had not, to my recollection, encountered the name before. derp.
