There was a point at which the type of books housewives read were absolutely considered by a reflection of and contributory to women's "silliness."


Oh, they're still at this. And don't even get me started on the incredibly insulting things said about young women who liked Twilight!

They've expanded to any women instead of just housewives now, yeah. Twilight is an mormon-infused abomination, but it's telling how the narrative around it was shaped around female desire at all rather than what kind of desire Edward and Jacob were giving (something representative of their high school romances maybe?)
