Firstly, thank you secret maker for making this secret. Secondly, oh god, I had forgotten about this and now I feel ill again. What is the medical term for when you remember something icky or creepy and you get that weird tingly and faint feeling in your legs? I got that again. Oh, ew-ew-ew.

I am so far behind on this show, and after reading that, I'm not sure I want to catch up.

Since then they've shown a baby born with Gastroschisis, and you google that at your peril, so maybe you are on to something there. I will say that the ep about the guy losing his leg was the best one of the season though. It has been the only one whose message and the story really landed. This season has been very uneven, and the difficulty shooting around Covid and cast changes has really shown. One episode in particular, not last week's but week before, felt like they'd crammed the remnants of two half filmed scripts into one.

I have been super-annoyed with how they're dealing with filming in COVID. Other ensemble shows have done a fantastic job; Midwife seems to have just said 'everybody stay 6 feet away at all times always, yes, even you, married couple who want to celebrate new baby, even you, people who just got engaged....'

It just looks WEIRD. Plus, yes, the scripts seem to be petering out of ideas that are actually interesting and not just kind of saccharine little 'messages'. Meh.

The first three or four seasons are the best. I feel like they started going downhill after the 'let's all go to Africa' ones.

The blocking is very noticeable at times. You can definitely tell which actors were in a bubble and who is just in and out for a day's shooting.

Gastroschisis, for those wondering, is when a baby is born with an incompletely formed abdominal wall so some or all of the intestines (and sometimes other organs) are on the outside. It's actually a pretty common birth defect and easily correctable with minor surgery.

Eh, it was just one scene.

there's a scene in horns that genuinely made me feel lightheaded, i was glad i was already sitting down. i got no idea why because i used to be massively into gore and horror, maybe it was a similar thing where it just caught me off-guard and that's why it was so bad.

I'm not super squeamish, but... no, I don't need that in my life. I've already tried to watch this series and it was just too much of a downer for me.

I watched one or two episodes and couldn't handle the labor scenes. Too bad because I love period dramas.

I can tolerate all kinds of fantastical gore like in Mortal Kombat, but stuff that looks like it could actually happen just makes me cringe away from the scene. I don’t even want to think about it.

(Sometimes it’s 50/50. The thing that could happen is real enough for me to cringe, but the special effects are too garbage for me to cringe particularly hard.)

I'm sorry it bothered you so much, OP.

It didn't really bother me much because a) it didn't look particularly real and b) it was so short.

But then, I grew up around discussions of medical stuff and whatnot, so am pretty unphased by a lot of that.

Wow, I watched that episode and I do not remember that AT ALL. You can tell I was scrolling through tumblr at the time lol. I always do something else while I'm watching that show because you don't have to pay much attention.
