I guess the thought process, from kids who haven't had sex yet, is that they've heard that lube is often waterbased, and sodas are mostly water, ergo... but no. It does not work like that at all. Not even if you get sugar free soda.

I don't think most people think that far. I think it's as simple as "lube gets things slippery" therefore anything with wet properties is free game...
