(Anonymous) 2022-02-15 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)And neo-nazis didn’t “lay claim” to DS9 just because a minority of fans might be neo-nazis. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is not a hand sign or symbol that’s been registered as a hate symbol by the ADL. And honestly, citation needed on neo-nazis making up a sizable portion of the DS9 fanbase at all, because that’s a big claim to make without backing it up. I don’t go anywhere near where right-leaning people go at all if I can help it, much less literal Nazis, and I strive to keep it that way in fandom too. So I don’t know where you’ve been looking that you’ve seen neo-Nazis talk about DS9 or try to claim it, but I wouldn’t have seen it, because I don’t touch any place genocidal scumbags occupy with a 10 foot pole.
So I ask again, what the fuck is wrong with you? You can throw the question back at me again like you already did, and “No U” all you want. But it’s not making you look like you have a point. Besides comparing everyone in this thread to Nazi sympathizers for no reason.
(And also, I don’t really get why you brought up Starship Troopers, but Heinlein stans and militaristic crazies getting mad at the movie for making fun of the book is one of the reasons I love the movie. So I guess you’re implying that whether someone gets mad at the movie or not can be a measuring stick for how right wing they are? In which case, I guess I’ll keep that in mind?)
