Bad movies/tv with good soundtracks

[personal profile] philstar22 2022-02-16 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Are there any movies or tv shows that you think are awful and yet have amazing soundtracks?

Most Michael Bay movies, and Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End.

Sherlock Holmes, the Zimmer sountrack was SO MUCH FUN that I watched that ridiculousness more than once in the cinema, about 70% motivated by the soundtrack.
[The remaining percent divides itself: 20% for the hotness, 10% for the slowmotion, and 0% for the plot/any resemblance to Doyle.]

Ooooh, I used to use that as my essay-writing background noise! It had no lyrics, so it wasn't distracting, and it was upbeat enough to be energizing without turning into "noise".

Streets of Fire is... watchable for some and unwatchable for others. But the soundtrack? AMAZING.

I hated Under the Skin but the OST is amazing. https://youtu.be/Z_Cc20I-maM

Flash Gordon. It is a fun film, but not a good film. The soundtrack, by Queen, is awesome though.

A lot of 4Kids dubs are considered bad, but the music was almost always good.

I have a very faint memory of discovering Barenaked Ladies through Yu-Gi-Oh! on the WB Kids website.

DA I discovered Barenaked Ladies and Smash Mouth through the Digimon movie (don't think that was a 4Kids dub, but that movie had such random music).

The anime series Guilty Crown. It's probably my least favorite series that I've ever watched all the way through, and a big reason why I stuck around until the end (besides a feeling of 'I've already watched over half this shit show may as well finish it') was that the soundtrack was just so damn good. That show dod not deserve Hiroyuki Sawano or Supercell.

I've seen the movie Elektra movie at least 3 times and I still can't remember what even happens in that movie.

The soundtrack on the other hand is one of my favorites that I've been listening to ever since I was an angsty teenager (Breathe No More by Evanescence, Wonder by Megan McCauley and Never There (She Stabs) by Strata were particular favorites I had on repeat the most when I got a cd player that would loop songs - ah memories <3).

Yessss, agreed!

It's a cliche answer at this point, but that's because it's true: The Twilight movies have pretty dope soundtracks. The New Moon ST is my personal favorite of the bunch.

IDK if I'd call Cruel Intentions bad, so much as salacious and problematic but debatably decent, and kind of delicious if you're into that sort of thing. But anyway, the Cruel Intentions soundtrack is bomb.

Yeah, Twilight had some great music.

I didn't think Purple Rain was a good movie but Prince's music in it was great

The soundtrack to the Hobbit movies was far more epic than the movies themselves.
Can't go wrong with an Alan Silvestri score, but some of the movies they belong to are pretty dismal.
Seconding Michael Bay's stuff.
