Hmm, now that you mention it yeah. I never really got as into Star Wars for some reason, but the original was on TV the other day and I caught the beginning, which I hadn't seen for years, and I was surprised at how ... I don't think "simple" or "basic" are the right words, they have connotations akin to "boring". But it just told a story, without much explanation. But I feel like I can't watch the recent stuff because I don't know all the decades of lore behind them.

(Then again, I felt that way when I got into TOS. Too much canon for me to ever write fic. Eventually I sort of slid in with the influx of people who got into it with the reboot, so I wouldn't be noticed. :D)
