Well it's not like the song actually matters right? he's just needs a song where it looks great to jump at after 10 crossovers, lmao *bitter for Jason*

Anyway, the best part of his whole free skate was the end where he was so happy he got gold and skated clean that there was actual emotion in his skating and he looked like he was having a blast. I don't really like the remix itself, but I think it worked perfectly well with his choreo.

Jason was absolutely robbed. Sinnerman only getting one 10 should have been my warning about the judging this Olympics.

(That sounds harsh - I was happy with all the medalists. Men's skating doesn't seem to have the ingrained judging problems ladies and ice dance do, but jeez.)

tbh, I think Jason getting sixth was wonderful considering he did zero quads the entire competition, but I think that should be possible for more than him, and I think artistry should be incentivized (and I think if he was at a less strong federation he would never have gotten those scores, like Donovan is never getting those scores even if he improves to Jason's level)!

I'm not mad at the medalists either, I think they know how points work and they maximized them. I do think there are ingrained judging problems (who they call under and who they q is just...questionable) but they are way less blatant and you know it's not like someone skated clean with a triple axel and is still fifth behind significantly LESS clean skates so...

Heeeeeee.
My bff sent me his winning vid, asking me what I thought, and I was like 'well, he does this jump, then some wavy skating, then the same jump, then the thing with his leg up, then some more wavy skating....it's fucking boring.'

She felt the same and ranted at/with me for a bit, just boggled at the rave reviews it was getting.

Not saying he's not a good athlete, not passionate about his craft, but...the routine was fucking boring.

Right, it was wildly athletic, that many quads clean is amazing, but it just had nothing to do with the music, and I don't think that should be a thing. He's got a lot of skill and a lot of goodwill (though apparently a little scared of not being thought of as masculine/thought of as gay, hope he grows out of that) so maybe he'll put some thought into the art of it all, but all these skaters know the points are with the jumps, so they'll keep doing as many jumps as they can.

Exactly. He may as well not have even played any music, it was so pointless.

I feel this. They train so hard to be dancers as well as athletes then their routines are regimented boring and repetitive. It's a waste.
