Someone brought up the very good and true point that fandom is weird when it comes to explanations for why a character is trans. They were talking about headcanons, but I've noticed it's true for OCs too. And that is that no explanation is a good explanation. If a character is trans, and you share your reasons for making them trans, fandom will in turn find a reason to call your reasoning bad. I think it's plain to see from this that they just don't like trans characters and are hiding it behind This Is Offensive to Trans People Because Blah Blah Blah statements, so nothing will please them and you're better off ignoring them and writing the way you want to. Who cares if your writing is influenced by your experiences? Every writer's is, whether they're aware of how or not. It just bothers people when they don't like your characters.
