Has the Kudos Bot gotten to your fic(s) on AO3? Any feelings or thoughts about the Kudos Bot?

A Kudos Bot gives artificial likes to fics on AO3. It's most obvious when the Kudos count is higher than the Hits count. Also, if the Kudos/Hits ratio is suspiciously high, you've likely gotten Kudos Botted. AFAIK AO3 doesn't know what is causing this to happen and there's no way to strip away the artificial Kudos.

Yeah.

I did a bunch of rare-pair podfics and they were (regrettably but understandably) not getting kudos, and suddenly they jumped up to 33 (all Guests).

Feels kinda humiliating, to be honest. "There there, the robot likes you..."

Another problem FF.net doesn't have. If you get a comment there, then it is genuine.

Ha! I had to take a fic down from FF.net because it kept getting spammed with Anon filth and I couldn't find a way to block it.

You didn't turn on the profanity filter or you forget to turn on the moderate guest reviews feature? And you couldn't find those on the main settings page?

Fuck, I don't remember the details because it was years ago. Some kind of randomised account names?

And, no, there was no adequate support that I could find at the time. Drove me mad. Deleted the fic and never went back to FF.net.

So not anon, but actual accounts? Well those were even easier to block. It sounds more like you picked up a prolific hater. What was the fandom you were writing for?

The account names were randomised, just like spam - jumbles of letters - and about ten a day, new accounts each time. And it was gen fic in a large fandom, not the sort of thing that attracts hate.

And there was nothing, at the time, that that shitty website could do to stop it except me manually deleting each fucking one.

So kindly lose the condescension, please.
