It is t bad but the thing is that at least half of the male characters in this game have this dumb mullet-with-a-tiny-rats-tail hairstyle going on and a lot of people were hoping for a bit of a change, like an actually long-haired male character. And his colour scheme looks kinda washed out, outfit would have been better in the blue/purple tones his sister (who was in the game before him) has, particularly because that would have been a bit of clan-related consistency.

I keep seeing people complaining about the rat tails, and look, I'm not that observant but it didn't feel so bad to me, so I pulled out the character archive and the only male characters that really have a rat tail to me would be Zhongli, Thoma and Kaeya, so like 3 out of 15 male characters? Not that bad. You might want to include Kazuha and Diluc depending of your definition of a rat tail. Bennett, Xiao, Chongyun, Venti, Xingqiu, Childe and Albedo all have their hair cut near the nape. Itto and Razor have long untied hair.

Forgot Gorou, who also has short hair, and the main character, who has a long braid? Who knows about that one. Fai expy Dainsleif also has short hair, for what that's worth, and Scaramouche has short hair but a short fringe thing down his neck.

Itto, Razor, Diluc and Aether all have a long hair in the back but short on top though. So also a mullet. Fact remains-not a single male character actually has non-mullet long hair (except Baizhu and hes not playable).

Looking at him again, I'll give you Itto, maybe. Still all pales in comparison with the variety of hairstyles on the female characters.
But then again, the guys' clothes and general designs except the hairstyles are mostly better. At least they don't have that "forgot to put on pants" bullshit going on just because someone on the design team has a naked thigh fetish.

Only Zhongli and Thoma is where I find it unnecessary. The other male characters hair feels more in proportion between the front and the back. Whereas Zhongli and Thoma just have that stupid thin ponytail.

I've always hated the mullet rat tail hairstyle so much I just imagine Zhongli and Thoma without it.
