Well now.
Reminds me of how so many people (me included) thought "sweet summer child" was one of those condescending Southern US things (you know, like "bless your heart" and such) only to find out it's a Game of Thrones thing.

I'm gonna be that person but /technically/ it was popularized by GoT by not made up by him.

And even when I say "popularized" I kinda say that lightly, because it was used in the 19th century (1840s) by various writers (a number of which were in the American south and I'm also pretty sure I've read it or heard the phrase in a song or on tv/movies/ works that predate GoT. Especially since not GoT was not exactly a cultural zeitgeist in 1996.

That's actually great to know since I don't particularly like GoT.
