If something has been part of popular vernacular for long enough, it can be easy to forget it’s technically not that old, even if you should know better since you predate it. Not all slang or popular phrase are like that, of course. But there’s something about the term bucket list that just has a more timeless feel that doesn’t feel especially tied to the 2000s where it originated. It feels like it’s been around longer. Probably because the concept of having a list of things to do before you die HAS been around longer, and The Bucket List came along to give the concept a catchy name for the first time that almost everyone seems to have unanimously agreed was the accepted phrase now.
