Huh, do you have anything to link on the research on having a harder time liking new things as you get older? Kind of a general thing to try to search for, I mostly got articles about erectile dysfunction :P

Dopamine levels decrease with age, and so does risk-taking behavior (not risks like jumping out of airplanes, necessarily, but things like riskier investments or moving to a new place on a whim.)

This kind of affects a person's propensity to seek "rewards" in unfamiliar media, which is why old people are more likely to watch soaps and predictable procedurals and classic movies, and less likely to listen to new music and see new films that aren't kind of tropey. That's my theory, anyway.

See, I don't buy that because my grandparents are in their 80s and I get a text at least once a week about some new show that they're watching and how I should check it out too.
