Not old, OP, just better at knowing what will waste your time.

THIS. Pickiness is good. Too many books, not enough time.

Good for you! There are endless good, great and fantastic books to choose from, so why waste time on mediocre stuff?

Actually, I think the feeling that you're doing something wrong by putting down a text that doesn't appeal to you should be fought with fire. I think that idea is the reason why many people never read books at all and it's both wrong and sad.

This is what I JUST SAID....yesterday? The day before? Recently. About being old and not tolerating the overwhelming crap we did when we were kids and had no taste.

Learning to accept that noping out of a book if it hasn't caught me by chapter 5 (or less) is acceptable and good changed my life. I'm okay not tolerating bad writing now. I'm afraid to find books I used to love as a kid because they probably aren't anywhere near as good as nostalgia makes it.

Yes!
I am sad that sometimes my brain just doesn't want to read, but I am more than ok just dropping bad or boring or just annoying to me books

Good for you. Don't feel old, Nonnie, you're wise.

One: Yes, you are getting old. We all are.

Two: Life is too short to read bad books.
