Oh man, same. I notice I've been writing them obsessively for a good 15 years, even though I threw out other stuff in between... sometimes I wonder if I'm just seeking the thing I don't deserve.

Sometimes I think people who are so adamantly against them are always putting themselves in the position of the wronged victim being pressured to forgive...and never think about how they might be the villain in someone else's story, as you said.
