I just think it’s kind of weird that she has/had this whole fascination that seemed obsessive for the Kennedy’s, and she dated a Kennedy. That’s just an odd feeling to know that your girlfriend is only really into you because she has a thing for the legacy of your famous family.

But that small weird but otherwise unimportant thing aside: anon above is right. That was Joseph Kennedy. Taylor is not into an abusive lobotimizing father, unless she likes Joseph too. Which we have no reason to suspect, considering she never wrote a song about him.

I honestly think she had a nice conversation with Ethel Kennedy, it caught her imagination, and she wrote the song based on an old story of the latter's. It could be seen as a forerunner to folklore and evermore because those songs are also based on other people's stories, both true and fictional. It's just that the Red Era is probably her most well-known "personal songs about things that happened to her" album.

I’m the OP of this thread(but not the secret’s OP), and I don’t know if you’re talking about me, but I don’t have a hatred of Taylor at all. I’m a casual fan of her music, and I think she’s one hell of a style icon. I also didn’t know the full story on how she got the inspo for Starlight, so I left the “That’s actually pretty cool!” response to the kind anon who let me know.

So again, I don’t know if you were trying to throw that dig at me for no real reason, considering I never said anything bad about Taylor, or if it was for someone else. But if it’s someone else, I can’t tell who, considering the only people being negative towards her in this thread are the people who think the 4 years between her and Kennedy were too much. Which I think I don’t agree with.
