No, it would still be the system's fault and not Batman's. Batman works within the system, to try and make it better. What you are describing is the strong man who replaces the system, and that has never gone well in reality.

I'm confused. How does Batman work within the system? He's not a police officer. He's a vigilante. He's literally operating outside of the law. He literally is the strong man trying to replace the system - albeit only part of the system, since he's trying to replace the police but not the courts or the jails, and even with the police there are some police officers he's willing to work with, but still, I don't see how you can see he's working within the system and not trying to replace it. Batman is 100% taking on the responsibility of acting outside the legal system.

How can anyone say that with a straight face is amazing. He is a man that dresses up like a bat and beats the shit out of people he thinks are bad. Was George Zimmerman "working within the system"? Hell, was Derek Chauvin?

That's weird, but not illegal.

I know this is not really the point because we're talking about Batman (lol) but according to the legal system yes, George Zimmerman (who was freed) was working within the system. Derek Chauvin is a police officer and excessive force - while technically illegal - is also very much normalized & carried out by cops on a regular basis, the vast majority of whom are never caught because they aren't actively being filmed while they kill people.

The "system" isn't just what's legal and what isn't, arguably. It's a social construct, the way law enforcement is a social construct with its own norms and prejudices it isn't doing anything about.

Whether Batman is within or outside the system is a super interesting question, actually. He does partner up with police forces and Jim Gordon is probably his greatest ally. I guess when people say "not all cops are bad" they're talking about Jim Gordon?
