Re: What things do you prefer the name brands to generic?

Walmart corn chips are way better than the Frito Lays ones. Less greasy and burnt. Honestly, most generic chips are just as good as name brand.

Most canned vegetables, I just use store brand.

For name brands I prefer, ice cream. Never had a store brand that was as delicious.

Corn chips like Fritos or like tortilla chips?

I would agree except for those Cantina style ones from Tostito's, the traditional not thin. So good.

Fritos! Granted, I literally only eat them with chili. xD

Oooh yeah, come to think of it I had Meijer's off-brand Fritos once and they were also great. More crunchy, less greasy, and just in general tasted like they hadn't been sitting in the bag on the shelf for so long.

You're right about the ice cream too, when it comes to the standard flavors (they're not BAD, but the tastes-like-flavor/tastes-like-sugar balance is off) but sometimes the store brands do have interesting regional flavors that no name brand has. Like "Scooperman" is legendary around Michigan, and I kind of suspect there are not a lot of other states that have "Mackinac Island fudge".

The Kroger Private Selection ice cream is the best ice cream I've ever had. Extreme Maximum Moose Fudge Tracks is amazing.
