Oh, man, absolutely. There are a lot of flaws you can point to in WOT, but if super dodgy, scheming authority figures who aren't technically lying is what you're looking for, WOT is phenomenal.

She recruits five young people who have Destiny written over them, knowing one of them is the re-incarnated Dragon Reborn who can help lock away the devil figure of the story for a bit longer.

Faaaaaaairly late in the story it becomes apparent that the only one of these young people who would survive the encounter is the Dragon, and she still hasn't worked out which one that is. There's a point where a magical wind that tells you your darkest fears says to her, "You will murder these children and call it heroism." Because taking them all would be for the greater good, yeah? The greater good. The greater good...

Yeah, I couldn't get through the books even in my Epic Fantasy stage, but the show is so, so, so much better and pointed straight at my id. Moiraine in particular is so fucking hot when she's scheming but never technically lying...
