I hate that too, OP. I have no problem with headcanons, especially for those looking for representation. When people start denying others the right to have a different opinion though, yeah that winds me up.

Can anyone help me with examples? I feel like I don’t see this in my fandoms, but maybe I’m just oblivious.

I have it more for people who do the same thing but with characters they hate. They often start making things up or twisting everything positive the character(s) do(es) into a negative (sometimes even people you dislike have a soft spot for kitten) and/or they act like the character never did anything positive in canon even if they unambiguously did, to make the character(s) they hate seem a lot worse than they actually are. All because they can't wrap their head around the fact that you can dislike/hate a character without them having to be a straight up pure incarnation of evil with deprived of any redeeming qualities/actions. The same applies the other way around, of course, your fave doesn't need to be a paragon either, but I'm way less bother by it tbh. Other forms of headcanons taking over canon can also be very annoying, especially when some of those headcanons I dislike start becoming canon, either because some fans become source material creators or because new creators who haven't enough respect for/knowledge about the years of canon prior their taking over start writting for a character using what they heard from the fans of the source material, including the antis. The most egregious examples are probably in comics/comics related stuff.

I've been there many times, sometimes it's just confusing, other times is completely aggravating because I want fic about the actual character not some wibbly OC the fandom has slapped the canon characters name onto.

Yes, same. Although I've certainly noticed that people who are convinced that they understand the real character, unlike those other people who simply absorb and buy into the fanon, also can have their own, shall we say, unsupported interpretations as well.

That said, I'm mostly just "ugh, whatever" about it if I like the fanfic (or whatever) well enough despite it. I get very annoyed, though, if a new season/book/movie/whatever comes out, and fandom loses its shit when the canon veers far from what they expect based on the fanon that has developed in the meantime. Play around with fanon all you want, but creators are not required to follow those ideas.

Oh, man, absolutely. There are a lot of flaws you can point to in WOT, but if super dodgy, scheming authority figures who aren't technically lying is what you're looking for, WOT is phenomenal.

I think someone on the writing staff said the Casita has soundproof walls for the bedrooms, or certain rooms. No doubt because they knew people would wonder what kinds of activities Dolores has heard her family get up to. Even if it wasn't official word, I'd imagine that's how it works, since Casita is at least somewhat sapient. So don't let that be a deterrent, we can assume Dolores is none the wiser about her uncle's masturbation habits.

I found some old huge-framed glasses from when I was a kid awhile back and had picked up a curly grey wig somewhere, and since I'm really short I was like "!!!" but I think Sophia needs AT LEAST her pussycat to really be recognizable. (Also people still card me even though I'm in my 40s... so I feel ya there, hahah.)

Edit: Oh wait, I think I misread and you mean fashion, not cosplay? Well, "Yes!" carries over either way, hahah. Their clothes seemed so comfortable, and often really colorful. =)

Just to clarify - it's my intention to make all the secrets left in this thread, so even if they're not marked claimed, they will be made.
