Different multiples report different degrees of awareness. I’m not multiple myself, so I’m going by their descriptions.

And yeah, a lot of multiples get into mysticism and parallel-universe stuff. I don’t believe in it, but I don’t think it’s that much crazier than some of the shit Christians have told me.

I'm going from the psychology unit I learned, but it was ten plus years ago and god knows the medical profession hasn't got a great track record with mental health so yeah.

On the one hand, I wouldn't put it past the medical profession at the time to have been mistaken. On the other, I wouldn't put it past kids on social media to lie about this stuff for attention. Hmm.

“Kids” is a bit much. My first multiple mutual was born in 1988. They’ve shown up as an adult at meetups for multiples. They got interviewed by a mainstream news mag once, and the interviewer met with an adult. The other multiple mutuals I’ve had have been pretty young, it’s true, but I don’t think that invalidates them.

(I’m reluctant to name names due to the harassment potential. A quote from the news mag: “I’m a fucking tranny-faggot-lunatic existing in public. It wouldn’t be a matter of if I get Gamergated — it’d be a matter of when.”)

Difficult to know the truth of it. People with DID, well it tends to be messy. This sll seems very neat and more like a narrative they've built for themselves. Who knows anyway.

Wasn't expecting you to name names? That's absolutely okay that you want to protect their privacy.

DA
They just beautifully demonstrated the "doing it for attention" part.

BTW, the first multiple mutual I had wasn’t fond of this language of “primary” personalities. They said whichever one singletons interacted with first tended to get assumed to be the real one, and all the others were treated as fakes. (The earliest of them never woke up from an assault, so it’s just the “alters” left now.)
