I found some old huge-framed glasses from when I was a kid awhile back and had picked up a curly grey wig somewhere, and since I'm really short I was like "!!!" but I think Sophia needs AT LEAST her pussycat to really be recognizable. (Also people still card me even though I'm in my 40s... so I feel ya there, hahah.)

Edit: Oh wait, I think I misread and you mean fashion, not cosplay? Well, "Yes!" carries over either way, hahah. Their clothes seemed so comfortable, and often really colorful. =)

There's a lot of fun freedoms that come with aging. Dressing how you want and not giving a hoot is one of them.

I'm sorry, but if people side-eye others for wearing pajama pants in Wal-Mart, which they do, then wearing an 80s style caftan or satin loungers in public as a younger person would definitely get you looks.

Pajamas aren't clothes, that's why. Sweatpants are barely clothes. A satin lounger isn't clothes either.

Aside from Blanche, the reset are wearing suits. Nobody would bat an eye at a blue suit and scarf.

The Golden Girls clothes are basically long flowing pants and tunics, day dresses, lounge wear, and the like, those are all what you could consider "normal" clothes. I agree with you up to a point, but a relatively younger person dressing like one of the Golden Girls would fly under the radar compared to someone shopping in a wedding dress.

When I was like 10 I met some Red Hat Society ladies who were super cool and fun and this has been my dream since then. I'm actually annoyed that I'll probably have to wait until past 60 for gray hair.

I will turn 55 this month, OP, so not quite the same age as the fabulous GGs, but closer in age to them than you are, I'd wager, and one of the things I've realized as I've gotten older is that I have put entirely too much thought into what other people might think if I wore X. I've denied myself happiness because I thought someone might say something about it.

Well, I stopped caring about the potential opinions of imaginary strangers only a few years ago and let me tell you, I would have done it in my damn 20s if I had known then what I know now. So wear what you want now, be yourself now, and don't worry about imaginary strangers! Best of luck to you, OP, I'm sure you'll look amazing!

The thing is you are probably going to get weird looks when you get old too. I don't know where you are, but our older people expected to dress much less colorful and dull. Go for it now, when you can, when you want. Make it work for you.

I'm looking forward to the time when I stop dyeing my grays brown and instead go for a purple rinse. I'm in my early 40s now and it still feels too soon, but I might take the plunge when I turn 50.

i love gray hair. i've seen this woman with the most beautiful silver fox look and decided that i am never going to dye my grays. i occasionally dye hair because it's just fun, but i am not going to look any younger with brown hair, whatever
